The Via Matildica del Volto Santo Association was officially founded at the beginning of 2020, as the culmination of preparatory work on the pilgrimage route that began in 2015.
The Association’s mission, as stated in its statute, is to preserve and promote the original and essential spirit of the route: a meeting point between pilgrims and the territory, grounded in collaboration and mutual growth.
The Via Matildica del Volto Santo Association is a non-profit organization and works in cooperation with public bodies, various associations, and individuals who are committed every day to caring for the natural, cultural, and spiritual heritage of the areas the path crosses.
The Via Matildica del Volto Santo is chaired by Don Giordano Goccini, parish priest of Novellara (Reggio Emilia) and an experienced pilgrim, who in 2015 was among the first—together with many young people—to walk the entire Via Matildica.
