Credential
The Credential of the Via Matildica del Volto Santo, or “Pilgrim’s Passport,” is the document that certifies the journey completed and distinguishes the Pilgrim from the occasional traveler. The Credential is personal and numbered.
With the Credential, pilgrims are entered into the Annual Register of Pilgrims of the Via Matildica del Volto Santo.
How to Obtain the Credential
You can obtain the Credential in two ways:
by requesting home delivery via the form below
by collecting it from one of the designated locations along the route (tourist offices, accommodations, or historical sites)
If you do not request home delivery, you can collect the Credential at:
The Mantua Infopoint, just steps away from the Basilica of Sant’Andrea, the starting point of the Via Matildica
In Guastalla, at the Tourist Information and Welcome Office
In Reggio Emilia, at the Tourist Information and Welcome Office
When collecting along the route, each pilgrim may collect Credentials for others as well, up to a maximum of 10 people.
For group requests (more than 10 participants), please contact: cammino@viamatildica.it
To be valid, the Credential must be registered on the website. Registration takes just a few seconds.
The system will send you the registration number by email, which must be written on the Credential in the designated space. Register your Credential here!
The Credential, or “Pilgrim’s Passport”, contains 18 spaces for stamps collected along the route.
Testimonium
In Lucca, at the end of the pilgrimage, it is possible to request the Testimonium, the document that certifies the completion of the Via Matildica del Volto Santo. It can be requested at the hospital of San Martino e Giacomo, located at Via della Rosa, 38.
